The process of creating these pieces of pottery was very fun. First we took a slab of clay and pinched and rolled it to as much of its elasticity to stretch it over to create a pieces of pottery and evetually getting the gereal shape that I wanted. Next i created the shape that wanted weather it be a tray, bowl, or leaf bowl and added my textures. With the leaf bowl i took a leaf from outside and place it on the clay and cut it out. the next stage of the clay would make it Leather Hard. This is a good stage for carving the leaf out and when you do so remember that you have to put the leaf in upside down because otherwise the veins on the leaf would not show up on your final product. Next i placed it in a shallow bowl to make the bowl shape. After a day or two the bowl will become Bone Dry which allows me to go over it with a spunge and smoth out the rough edges so they dont poke out and to make the piece of pottery smoother. When everything is all ready and smoothed the piece will be left out for another day or tow and become Greenware. Greenware pottery is ready to be put in the kiln and into what we call Bisque pottery. Bisque pottery is the finished product that can no longer be altered. Next, when the piece of pottery is cooled down you can now glaze it. There are many types of glazes and in many diferent colors, so choose one paint it. Next you do a glze firing which makes the glaze shiny and adds color to the piece. Then you are all done and can take it home or give it to a friend/family meber for a special ocassion!
